We EMPOWER Diversity

At VSP Vision, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) fuel our collective purpose: to empower human potential through sight. It’s woven into how we do business, part of our values, and critical to executing on our strategy.

By making a commitment to integrate DE&I into our business strategy, our actions must match our words. This sharpens our focus on people, the true heart of our business—whether our workforce or the communities we serve.

As a global company, our employees, customers, and neighbors represent a spectrum of identities, experiences, abilities, and economic situations, and it’s our responsibility to foster an inclusive workplace and provide relevant, innovative, and respectful products and services that meet the needs of our stakeholders.

DE&I Defined

To align us in our work, VSP defines …

as a spectrum of identities, experiences, abilities, skills, and perspectives that are respected, valued, and leveraged to drive innovative business solutions.

as a work environment free of favoritism in which all employees have equal access to opportunities and are empowered to achieve their full potential.

as a work environment in which all employees are respected, able to contribute their unique perspectives, and comfortable being authentic.

Cultivating Belonging. Empowering the Journey.

Empowering diversity is an essential value that drives our business, and our employees play a key role in how this shows up at VSP.
We see our employees for who they are, no matter where they are or what they do. We are one team on a journey to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace together.

Dr. Marvin R. Poston: Visionary for Optometry. Mentor to Many.

Dr. Poston was a compassionate visionary with a heart for helping people see and fulfill their potential. As a co-founder of California Vision Services, which is now more than 80-million-member-strong VSP Vision, Dr. Poston believed in a world where everyone could bring their best vision to life. He shared his passion for optometry by mentoring and championing the success of young optometrists, guiding them in the development of their practices and at touchpoints throughout their careers.

Honoring the Past. Empowering the Future.

Demonstrating care has been a critical piece of VSP’s success since our inception thanks, in part, to one of our founders—the groundbreaking Dr. Marvin R. Poston. The first Black American licensed to practice optometry on the West Coast, Dr. Poston’s legacy of equitable opportunities and compassionate service lives on through our work with external partners, educational institutions, diverse suppliers, and future optometrists.
