Dr. Poston was a compassionate visionary with a heart for helping people see and fulfill their potential. As a co-founder of California Vision Services, which is now more than 80-million-member-strong VSP Vision, Dr. Poston believed in a world where everyone could bring their best vision to life. He shared his passion for optometry by mentoring and championing the success of young optometrists, guiding them in the development of their practices and at touchpoints throughout their careers.
Demonstrating care has been a critical piece of VSP’s success since our inception thanks, in part, to one of our founders—the groundbreaking Dr. Marvin R. Poston. The first Black American licensed to practice optometry on the West Coast, Dr. Poston’s legacy of equitable opportunities and compassionate service lives on through our work with external partners, educational institutions, diverse suppliers, and future optometrists.
