VSP Vision Earns VETS Indexes 4 Star Employer Recognition for the Third Consecutive Year

|

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – VSP Vision is proud to announce it has earned the designation of 4 Star Employer in the 2024 VETS Indexes Employer Awards. For the third consecutive year, VSP Vision was honored for its commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing, and supporting veterans and the military-connected community.

“At VSP Vision, we understand the importance of supporting the career goals of military service members, veterans, and their families,” said VSP Vision Chief Human Resources Officer Kristi Cappelletti-Matthews. “The military community brings a wealth of innovation to VSP Vision that aligns with our business objectives, as well as robust soft skills that are critical for building and maintaining a culture of belonging.”

A few of the lauded programs at VSP Vision include:

Among the eight Business Resource Groups (BRG), the Military, Veterans, and Families (MVF) BRG offers staff a catalog of strategic programming that supports both their personal and professional goals. This cohesion supports the BRG’s vision of ensuring military, veterans and families are thriving in the communities in which they live and work.

Each November, VSP Vision celebrates Veterans Appreciation Month with engaging and inspiring content and events that offer employees the opportunity to connect and learn about the experiences of the MVF community, both within the company and in a broader scope.

In addition, giving back to the community is a hallmark of VSP Vision’s One Team culture. Projects include creating care packages for deployed service members in partnership with Troopathon, formerly Move America Forward, or participating in Wreaths Across America, where volunteers across the country remember and honor veterans by laying remembrance wreaths on the graves of fallen heroes.

“Competition for the VETS Indexes Employer Awards was tougher than ever in 2024, as a record number of organizations participated,” said George Altman, president of VETS Indexes. “Even with hundreds of employers in the running, the veterans program at VSP Vision stood out from the rest. Congratulations to VSP Vision on this outstanding achievement.”

This year, a record 344 organizations submitted completed surveys for the VETS Indexes Employer Awards, an increase of more than 100 submissions from last year and nearly triple the number from two years ago. VSP Vision was one of 285 recognized organizations that demonstrated a strong commitment to veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and military spouses. Participating organizations included companies large and small, government agencies and departments, nonprofit groups, colleges, and universities.

As the most objective and comprehensive evaluation of veteran employers, the VETS Indexes Employer Awards program has set a new standard in veteran employment data. About VETS Indexes
VETS Indexes is a leading voice on veteran employment issues, overseeing the VETS Indexes Employer Awards, hosting the Employing U.S. Vets Conference, unearthing unique and unprecedented data on veteran employment through the Veteran Employment Benchmarking Service, and developing custom indexes, linked to financial products, that track the performance of the publicly traded companies that have established themselves as the best employers for veterans.

The VETSX and VTRNIX indexes were created on the premise that the companies that make the best use of the highly talented, yet under-valued, talent pool that veterans represent will ultimately see a benefit to their bottom lines. The performance of the indexes has emphatically confirmed that thesis, outpacing the S&P 500.

As the world’s first resource for U.S.-veteran-themed indexes, our mission is to provide innovative solutions that recognize the value created by the mission-critical mindset, unique skills, and specialized training that veterans bring to the workplace. Our mission also includes a commitment to always donate a significant portion (target of 20% and no less than 5%) of our net profits to charitable organizations that support veterans and their families.
